Different generations come together to discuss Race Equality in Sutton
We held our second Race Equality Conference. The conference saw over 40 colleagues from different sectors coming together to share information about the good work that has been taking place in the Borough around race equality over the past year.
The Conference, held during Race Equality Week 2023 was said to be a fruitful evening with informative presentations from colleagues across the board. Participants listened to poetry from Beverley Dixon (from the Sutton Creative Women's Group). Participants also heard from Guest speakers including Emily Nice Assistant Director HR and Organisational Development and Jeff Richards also spoke about the history of George Rice.
There were readings from members of the young people's creative writing group and participants had the chance to do their own creative writing this was facilitated by Michelle Innes.
The conference provided a great opportunity for everyone to share ideas and network.
We will be adding a new resources section to the Fair Commission page on our website, where colleagues can find links to further resources on race equality and creative writing from young people.
Watch this space for a full report including next steps. If you would like further information about this work please contact Razia Sattar using her email address razia@communityactionsutton.org.uk
