Nickel Support works with over 100 adults with learning disabilities. They run a social enterprise called Interestingly Different. This unique shop sells products that are sourced from social enterprises around the UK and who work with marginalised groups. The shop provides a platform for Nickel Support trainees to gain retail work experience with the vision to work towards paid employment. Trainees get the opportunity to maintain the shop floor, serve customers and fulfil online orders.
Funding from the Innovation Fund allowed them to stock a wide range of products helping them to create an exciting ‘social’ shopping experience for the local community.
The funding also enabled the shop to use a professional photographer to take photos for the online shop.
The shop continues to grow which ensures the trainees continue to gain valuable retail experience as well as gain a sense of purpose and connection to the community.
